Provincial Congress Event
On Saturday, October 11, 2025 (from 1:00 - 4:30), the Wright Tavern and Reclaim Our Democracy are hosting an important discussion program. The title is: "Breaking the Polarization Trap". This program will feature well-known political scientist, Harvard Professor, Danielle Allen, Ph.D. (https://danielleallen.scholars.harvard.edu/), and a leading historian on the American Revolution, Robert A. Gross, Ph.D. (https://history.uconn.edu/person/robert-a-gross/). This 3 ½ hour program will include hearing Dr. Gross unique insights on how the Loyalists and Patriots lived together during the significant turbulence of the American Revolution. Dr. Allen will provide a context for today's political turbulence and explore an innovative solution to address underlying causes.
After each makes a brief presentation, the participants will break into committees (similar to how was done with the original Provincial Congress) to explore and discuss a challenge question from each of the presenters. After returning to the main meeting room, we will hear summaries of the group discussions and engage in an open question and answer period with the speaker. We will repeat this format — presentation, group discussion and open dialogue — for the second presentation. This program will enable participants to learn important ideas and information from the presenters, discuss them in small groups, and exchange ideas and comments in the larger group. It's a unique opportunity to have a conversation with two nationally known thought-leaders.
Light refreshments will be served. The seating capacity is limited to forty-five people, so space is limited, and a reservation is necessary for entry. The fee for attendance in this unique program is $30, and this will cover the expenses of hosting this event as well as support the programs and services of the Wright Tavern. If the cost is too expensive for you, a few scholarships are available.

Thank you and we look forward to "Seeing you at the Wright Tavern."
